Join us for this Modern Richmond Tour of the City of Richmond's new Firestation 12 on Saturday, October 18th, 2025 from 10AM to 12PM.
This Saturday tour will be a blast! Bring the family so your kids can be a part of Fire Prevention Month as we celebrate this efficient, modern design by Moseley Architects.
Since the 1940s, Fire Station 12 has served as a neighborhood anchor in Richmond's active Carytown district. When the aging facility needed replacement, Moseley Architects developed a design that maintains the station's established community connections while incorporating advanced safety features for contemporary firefighting needs.
The design of the 17,000 sq. ft. facility relied heavily on community input to guide the design and program of the project. Details or the project include the impressive red fire ladder sculpture that can be viewed from the street and glass art which features Richmond’s first female firefighter Barbara Hicks and Richmond’s first African American fire chief Ronald Lewis by artists A Gang of Three + Sylvio Lynch.
Check out the award winning FIERO (Firestation Design Awards Program) Fire house. Doors Open at 10:00 AM. A panel discussion will be held at 11AM that will share the story of the project featuring Richmond Fire Department Captains, City of Richmond Officials, the project Artists, and the Architect.
