The elegant house at 700 Westover Road was designed by ARCHITECTUREFIRM for a couple who had lived for decades in the adjacent house, a home originally constructed for the owner's parents. The neighborhood, William Byrd Terrace, is an historic enclave of architecturally significant homes in the center of Byrd Park.
The house respects the scale and character of the adjacent historic homes while quietly adhering to a Modern aesthetic. The exterior is a direct response to the massing, height, and roof profile of neighboring houses. Inside, a clean material palette, seamless coved ceilings, and abundant natural light create a feeling of calmness and connection to the natural beauty of the surrounding park. Beautifully detailed casework and trim are found throughout.
Architectural historian Marc Wagner and Danny MacNelly, who led the design team, will be sharing his insights into the project at 5:45 so that attendees can look for the details and decisions during their self-guided tour.
On street parking is readily available.
