Tour of YWCA Richmond

  • YWCA 6 North 5th Street Richmond, VA, 23219 United States (map)

Our November 9 tour will be at the newly renovated YWCA Richmond at 6 N. 5th Street.

This award-winning project was designed by Sierra Roman with SMBW. Sierra will be describing the project's design after we are welcomed by CEO Linda Tissiere and Rupa Murthy at 5:45. The renovation has allowed the YWCA Richmond to expand its mission and provide office, meeting, and training space for community members with shared goals.

While the building's historic 1913 exterior (Noland & Baskervill) was preserved, the SMBW design has re-shaped the interior to improve staff functions and to welcome and serve women of all backgrounds and ethnicities. The project team intentionally sourced products and materials designed or manufactured by women.

A highlight of the project is the conversion of the basketball court to a training center with flexibly sized meeting areas, state-of-the-art AV equipment and a kitchenette where we will enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres.

Attendees can pay for parking in the deck across 5th Street, or use nearby on-street parking.
